Maintaining Your CPAP Device And Accessories

The device does not need regular service. However, regular washing of the accessories will prolong their life and maintain comfort. Do not use strong detergents which may affect the materials in the accessories.

  • CPAP Machine – can be wiped down with a damp cloth from time to time.
  • Filters – should be cleaned every week, and replaced every year. The filters can be rinsed in luke-warm water, dried thoroughly and re-used. Do not replace the filter into the machine until it is dry.
  • Mask & Headgear – for convenience you should leave the headgear attached to the mask for washing. This will avoid having to re-adjust the straps to find a comfortable fit after each wash. With some mask models the cushion can be detached prior to washing – please refer to mask instructions.
  • Tubing – can be washed in warm soapy water, rinsed and hung to dry indoors. If your breathing circuit (tubing) has a small clear inner tube, plug this inner tubing at both ends with the plugs provided. It is important never to allow water into this inner tube. The breathing circuit can then be washed. This should be done every month.
